LIFE STAGE ONE.
The life of a dragon begins with the Mating Flight. For the time being, until the site gets more active, only dragons of the same breed can mate. The amount of eggs laid will depend on how successful the staff deem the mating thread. It can be anywhere from 1-20 eggs laid by a single dragon. Though the smaller breeds tend to lay less. Occasionally eggs will rot or have dead hatchlings in them as well. The eggs are usually pretty obviously different breeds.
Andulvar eggs are small and black with a faint blue tint, like raven's feathers.
Izhitah eggs are difficult to tell, as they can be any color. The one thing that sometimes sets them apart it they are slightly mottled.
Mordesdre eggs are solid white or black.
Vindias dragon eggs are very obvious. They're always active, and wiggle constantly as well as reflect the color of the dragon inside.
Sithian dragon eggs are tricky. For such a large dragon, they can be any size. The only hope you have is some are very warm.
Diestes dragon eggs are simple to identify. They are massive and slightly damp, causing moss to grow on them.
LIFE STAGE TWO.
The next stage is the hatching. Dragon eggs are ready to hatch two months after being laid, though many will sit for years until they are matched with a suitable partner.
Selected human specialist will sort the eggs as best they can by breed. Then those interested in bonding to a dragon will be tested by their rulers to see what breeds they would be compatible with. They will then be permitted to touch a few suitable eggs, if one hatches, the dragon goes with you. Only one can hatch to a person.
There are two types of Bonds. There is a True Bond and a False Bond. A False bond is what happens 90% of the time. Because humans try so hard to control the Bonds and get more True Bonds by matching compatible people with compatible eggs, they actually end up ruining most possible True Bonds. A True Bond is when the Bond happens just by being near. A False Bond is when the Bond happens by being the first to touch. When your character is touching the eggs selected, the Staff member watching over the thread will let you know if the egg that hatches for you is through a True Bond of a False Bond.
The differences between True and False Bonds as far as skills go are as follows:
True Bonds can speak through each other's minds at much greater distances. Virtually unlimited. False Bonds can speak through each other's minds at a maximum of a few miles apart. True Bonds can sense the emotions of their Bonded. False Bonds cannot. True Bonds learn skills faster, where False Bonds learn more slowly. It is said that Truly Bonded pairs will not only sense each other's emotions, but share them. If one is in pain so is the other, if one is happy so is the other which can at times be challenging to work with.
LIFE STAGE THREE.
The next part of a Dragon's life is Training. Training begins from the moment they are born and never ends. Instead of making this complicated, it's pretty easy. It's as simple as this. The strength of a dragon is determined by how many posts it has under it's belt.
1-50 Posts is Beginner.
50-100 Posts is Intermediate.
When you reach 100 Posts your character will get to choose an element to study under. - Water. - Ice. - Fire. - Air. - Stone. - Plant. - Celestial. - Weather. - Mind. - Shadow. - Light.
Then you will have to go through the five stages of each element to reach Master.
(Element Type) Skill Level 1 (Element Type) Skill Level 2 (Element Type) Skill Level 3 (Element Type) Skill Level 4 (Element Type) Skill Level 5
All you need to do in each Level to advance is complete a task that will be given to you by a Moderator in the Task's board. These will all be IC tasks that you will have to rp out to advance.
Once you reach Skill Level 5 in your Element, you may at last advance to the Master Level once you hit 150 posts. There are no levels after that, but there will occasionally be additional ranks you can earn.
You can only choose one element, and cannot back out once that element has been chosen.
LIFE STAGE FOUR.
Once a dragon is a Great Wyrm, there is really no limit to how long it will live. Dragons can in theory live for hundreds of years, their riders however cannot. Dragon Riders will usually die around age 150. Unlike humans not bonded to a dragon, they do not age like others. They will reach a maximum physical appearance of someone in their 40s.
